Teacher and Educator Workshops

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is dedicated to life-long learners by working with teachers & educators. We host interactive and specialized Professional Learning Workshops for teachers throughout the year at the field station. Workshops are intended to help expand the knowledge of teachers and provide interesting and unique educational techniques and activities to be used in the classroom.

Formal and informal educators learn about Hudson River biology through a hands-on professional learning experience.

Our curriculum and activities range from:

  • Hudson River specific topics
  • Climate change, sea level rise, and local impacts
  • Microplastics and their mega impact
  • And more!

All lessons and activities align with the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). A formal online community for teachers and educators is being developed to share feedback about the effectiveness of activities in the classroom and contribute tips and tricks to enhance the activity.
